The Mossyrock girls basketball team staked its claim atop the 1B Columbia Valley League and defended it Tuesday, downing Willapa Valley 64-25 at home.

Payton Torrey went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to a 27-point night, and also racked up six rebounds and six steals. Caelyn Marshall added four triples of her own, 24 points, and three steals.

Hailey Brooks led the way on the glass with seven rebounds, and also dished out three assists, while holding WV’s Grace Huber to just six points. Mckenna Torrey had four steals.

Mossyrock held Valley — which came into the night undefeated in league play — to just 11 first-half points, and after the guests scored 10 in the third quarter, limited them to four in the fourth. No Valley Viking racked up more than six points.

Mossyrock will get a week off, before taking on Three Rivers Christian in Longview next Tuesday.
