Hailey Brooks hit for a game-high 21 points and three Vikings scored in double digits as Mossyrock easily disposed of Naselle, 53-34, on Saturday.

Brooks hauled in a game-high 12 rebounds to go with her scoring barrage, while Payton Torrey added an all-around performance with 15 points, 10 steals and three assists, while Caelyn Marshall had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Teaguen Weise, Jade Padrick and Abbie Lovan each scored two points as well.

It was a slow start as neither team scored until four minutes into the first quarter.

“After we tightened things up, we got the ball rolling,” Mossyrock coach Autumn Moorcroft said.

Mossyrock shot just 27% from the field (20-of-75), but made up for it by draining 44% of its shots from beyond the arc (7-of-16). The Vikings were also 5-of-11 from the charity stripe.

Naselle was led by two girls, Bella Colombo and Kaylin Shrives, who each scored nine points. The Comets shot 36% from the field and connected on just 1-of-6 shots from downtown.

“Naselle is an aggressive, well-coached team and made us work for the win,” Moorcroft said. “I am proud of the effort from my team and want to acknowledge the performances from Brooks, Torrey and Marshall.”
