A 67-year-old Seattle man died in a crash in Randle on Friday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Joe A. Trudeau, 67, was traveling east near mile marker 117 at Young Road on a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle behind a Nissan Pathfinder driven by 27-year-old Chyenne M. Miller, 27, of Lakewood, at about 3:45 p.m.

When Miller slowed to turn left onto Young Road, Trudeau’s motorcycle struck the Pathfinder from behind. Trudeau and the motorcycle came to rest in the eastbound lane.

Trudeau was later pronounced dead at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He was not wearing a U.S. Department of Transportation approved helmet at the time of the crash, according to the state patrol.

Miller was not injured.

The state patrol listed the cause of the crash as improper passing.
