Mountaineers Defeat Tigers in Home League Tilt

Taking down Napavine in a Central 2B League contest, the Rainier softball team defeated the Tigers thanks to a late rally, 11-5, Monday afternoon at home. 

In the second game of the doubleheader, a non-league game against the Tigers, the Mountaineers fell, 11-1, in five innings. 

In the game that counts toward the league standings, Keira Anderson had a strong day at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a triple and a home run, with four RBIs, three runs scored, and a walk. 

In the circle Ryleigh Cruse threw a complete game, and despite letting in five runs in the first three innings, tightened the screws to shut out the Tigers the rest of the way with four strikeouts. 

The Tigers were led by Hannah Fay, who hit a triple to score a run and drew two walks, and Hayden Kaut, who went 3 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. Taylen Evander also went 3 for 4 with an RBI at leadoff. 

In the second, non-league contest, the Tigers ran away with the 11-1 win. Fay threw a complete five innings with a pair of strikeouts, and also went 2 for 3 with three runs scored. Dani Tupuola went 2 for 2 with four RBIs and Avery Schutz went 2 for 2 with a pair of RBIs for Napavine. 

The Mountaineers host Kalama on Thursday for another league game while the Tigers play host to league-leading Adna.
