Mountaineers Pick Up Win Over Spartans

In a defensive-minded game, the Rainier girls basketball team’s strong first and third quarters helped it beat Forks Tuesday at home, 41-34.

The Mountaineers (14-4, 7-2 C2BL) got 17 huge buckets from Isabella Holmes, who was the player of the game, per coach Brandon Eygabroad.

“She was outstanding today,” he said of Holmes. “We locked down defensively as a team and did a lot of good things, not all games are going to be pretty.”

Holmes was the only Mountaineer in double figures, but Bryn Beckman (8 points), Faith Boesch (6 points), Brooklynn Swenson (4 points), Janess Blackburn (4 points), and Haleigh Hanson (2 points) all scored in a well-rounded scoring effort Tuesday.

The Mountaineers have just one game left against Winlock on the road to close out their regular season.
