Mountaineers Slip Past Cougars to Stay Unbeaten

Picking up its fourth straight win to start the year, the Rainier softball team held off Cascade Christian Friday evening, 5-4, to stay unbeaten.

The Mountaineers got another dominant performance in the pitchers’ circle from Bailey Elwell, with the righty fanning 12 batters and also dominating at the plate, with two runs on a 2 for 5 night.

Olivia Earsley (2 for 3), Keira Anderson (2 runs), and Dakota Anderson (1-1, run, walk) also starred at the plate for the Mountaineers.

“We were able to overcome some challenges in this game, that's for sure,” Mountaineers coach Kyle Greenwood said. “Cascade’s pitching really gave us problems which left us searching for the right timing to get more runners on the bases. These are the moments though that make us search within ourselves and find out what we are made of.”

Rainier will look to keep it rolling against Stevenson next Friday at home.
