Mountaineers Start Fast in Win Over Ducks

RAINIER — The Rainier girls basketball team didn’t take too long to get going Thursday night at home, dispatching visiting Toutle Lake, 64-31 after rocketing out to a double-digit lead before the Ducks could even muster a point.

Led by perhaps its most well-rounded scoring effort of the season, eight Mountaineers got in the scoring column, with Bryn Beckman’s 13 points and Faith Boesch’s 11 points. Isabella Holmes was the only other Rainier player in double figures with 10 points, and finished with a double-double with 12 rebounds.

“Really big team effort,” Mountaineers coach Brandon Eygabroad said. “We were really focused on our start. Really proud of the girls for taking the challenge one game at a time.”

Brooklynn Swenson also starred with eight points and seven steals.

Rainier will look to keep it going in its last non-league game of the season against Mossyrock on Saturday.
