Mules clip Cardinals in Cathlamet

Everyone knows Cathlamet is a tough place to play, and Wahkiakum’s old wood-filled gymnasium proved to be just that for Winlock, in a 32-31 loss to the Mules.

The Cardinals led 18-12 at halftime, and were still up by four going into the fourth, but gave up 13 points in the final period to let the Mules come all the way back.

“We struggled with game management follow through at the end of the game, which comes with players who have not had a lot of game experience,” Winlock coach Dracy McCoy said.

Kindyl Kelly scored a team-high 10 points and also had five rebounds, five assists and five steals. Natalie Cardenas had seven points and five swipes, while Adriana Garcia hit two 3-pointers and tallied seven points.

Winlock will be back in action Monday, at home against Kalama.
