MWP Boys Advance to State After Placing Third at Districts

ON TO STATE: The Timberwolves Had Three Runners Finish in the Top 25, Led by Asher Sympson

RAINIER — Morton-White Pass boys secured a state tournament bid as a team with a third-place finish at the 2B District 4 boys cross country championships Saturday in Rainier.

The Timberwolves had three runners tally top-25 finishes, and four in the top 31, to nab the third and final team berth.

Senior Asher Sympson led the T-Wolves with an 11th-place finish (18:08.29), while teammate David Martinez placed 13th (18:11.61), Hunter Brackett was 25th (19:14.94) Eric Brown placed 31st (19:20.01), Garret Clevenger came in 36th (19:48.58) and Max Lowe was 49th (21:05.20).

The Timberwolves edged Rainier for the final team spot, 108-115. The Mountaineers were led by Ryan Doidge’s sixth-place finish (17:58.48) and Dylan Davis’ 10th-place finish (18:07.83).



Cedar Tree Classical Christian won the boys title with 93 points and Northwest Christian (Lacey) was second with 105.

The top 21 runners all qualified for state individually if their team didn’t qualify. Heading to state are Mossyrock junior Christian Paz Tapia (15th), Toledo junior Carson Olmstead (16th), Mossyrock junior Hugo Wedam (17th), Toledo freshman Treyton Marty (19th), Adna sophomore Jordan Stout (20th) and Onalaska junior Ben Russom (19:02.01).

The 2B boys state cross country meet is set for Saturday, Nov. 6, at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco, Washington.
