Morton-White Pass’ Gemma Jakubowski and Vanson Armstrong can now add first-place victories to their resumes for the first time in their varsity careers after winning the Gregg Brown Memorial C2BL meet in Cascade Peaks Thursday.

Jakubowski crossed the finish line in under 26 minutes for the second time in her career, the first coming at districts last year at 25 minutes and 38 seconds. On Thursday, she breezed past the competition as the second-place finisher, Adna eighth grader Chloe Gelvin, was over three minutes behind. Onalaska’s Maddy Hanson and Tia Henderson took fourth and fifth.

Armstrong put up his best mark of his senior season at 18 minutes and three seconds to earn his first win. He was followed closely by his two classmates in seniors Aiden Kampa, second at 18:16, and Noah Gilstrap, third at 18:32.

Adna sophomore Colton Rind smashed his personal record by 20 seconds, logging his first finish under 19 minutes at 18:43 to place fourth. Napavine junior Landon Engelbertson also clinched a new PR at 19:15, coming in sixth.

The MWP boys finished first in the team tally ahead of Adna and Onalaska, while no team scores were listed for the girls race.
