The Napavine High School athletic department confirmed to The Chronicle on Sunday that sprinter Maddie Dickinson, who collapsed at the 1B/2B/1A state track and field championships in Yakima last Friday, is not in critical condition.
“I can definitely confirm that she is alive, is receiving treatment, and is not in critical condition,” Napavine Athletic Director Josh Fay said in a statement.
Dickinson, a freshman, collapsed after finishing the final leg of the Tigers’ 4x100 relay in their prelim heat. Local personnel administered life-saving medical treatment on site before putting Dickinson in an ambulance and rushing her to a local hospital.
Since then, Fay confirmed that she has been moved to a different hospital for further treatment and testing.
