Napavine Swept in Kalama

Playing in an early season contest, the Napavine volleyball team came out a little nervous against the powerhouse Kalama in a 3-0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-9) defeat.

Playing without any juniors or seniors on their squad, the Tigers (0-1) couldn’t keep pace with a Chinooks team that had already played five games to this point already.

“Girls were a little intimidated tonight,” Tigers coach Monica Dailey said. “Kalama is a well put together team. We’re very young this year but we improve every practice. The girls are just excited to play.”

Emily Kang recorded eight digs, Grace Gall led the way with three kills for the Tigers, Keira O’Neill finished with four blocks, and Avery Schutz dished out five assists in the loss. Jessie McCoy and Nikki Ahmann were perfect on their serving as well.

The Tigers play Toledo on Tuesday before opening up league play against Winlock on Thursday.
