The matchup between two of the top teams in the C2BL was as close as expected on Friday, but it was the Napavine softball team that came away with an 8-6 win over Toledo.
The game featured five lead changes in the first five innings and was tied at six heading into the seventh, where back-to-back RBI doubles from Grace Pancake and Maya Kunkel gave the Tigers (11-2, 4-1 C2BL) a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
Pancake finished 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles and two runs batted in, and Hannah Fay also collected three hits while going seven innings in the circle.
Hayden Kaut went 2 for 4 with a solo home run in the third.
Kailea Lairson went 3 for 3 with an RBI to lead Toledo (10-2, 4-2 C2BL) offensively, while Mialeigh Jurica added a pair of RBIs.
Both teams will play in a doubleheader on Monday, as Napavine will host Rainier and Toledo will head to Kalama. In both doubleheaders, the first game in a league matchup and the nightcap is a non-league contest.
