Napavine’s Dahl Wins State Long Jump Title

Napavine’s Lucas Dahl won the 2B state long jump title on Friday, outjumping the runner up by well over a foot.

Dahl, a senior, finished at 22 feet, 7.75 inches — beating out Toutle Lake’s Chase Lynn (21-2). Toledo’s Wyatt Nef was third at 19-10.5.

Dahl had the second-best entry mark (20-10.25) heading into the 2B state track championships, which started Thursday at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.

Morton-White Pass’ Kysen Collette finished eighth at 19-4.

Dahl also had the fastest time in the 200 preliminaries (22.72) and will run in Saturday’s finals. Adna’s Tristan Ridley (24.20) also qualified. 

MWP’s Matt Cooper had the seventh-fastest time in the 800 preliminaries (2:05.51) and will run in Saturday’s finals.



Toledo (Conner and Carson Olmstead, Jordan Mckenzie and Wyatt Nef) had the fastest time in the 4x400 relay to make the finals, where they’ll be joined by both MWP and Adna.

In 2B girls action, Winlock’s Addison Hall finished sixth in the discus at 116-7. Lind-Ritzville’s Myra Miller won the event at 125-5.

MWP’s Jordan Koetje had the best time in the 200 preliminaries (26.26) to make the finals.

Adna’s Reagan Naillon qualified for the 400 finals with a preliminary time of 1:05.69 (seventh) and Rainier’s Selena Niemi qualified for the 800 finals with a preliminary time of 2:38.09. Adna’s 4x400 relay team also qualified for Saturday’s finals.

In the 1B meet, Mossyrock’s Christian Paz Tapia qualified for the boys 800 finals with the sixth-fastest time in the 800 (2:08.69).

On the girls side, Pe Ell’s Charlie Carper and Teaguen Weise both qualified for the 200 finals.
