Napavine’s Keith Olson Signs With Utah Football

Napavine senior and 3-star offensive tackle Keith Olson has officially signed with the University of Utah football, as announced by the team on national signing day Wednesday morning.

Olson, the 20th-ranked prospect in the state for the class of 2022, originally verbally committed to USC on July 6.

The Trojans fired former coach Clay Helton in September, then hired Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley as its new head coach on Nov. 28.

Olson, a 6-foot-6, 295-pound lineman who helped Napavine to a 2B state title game appearance on Dec. 4, announced on Twitter he was reopening his recruiting 10 days later on Dec. 8.

There was speculation Olson might commit to WSU, which offered him the same day, or to Oregon State, where his father, Kurt Olson, played linebacker from 1991-95.

But on Wednesday morning, Olson held a private signing party at his home before Utah football tweeted a photo of Olson in Utes gear with a link to his bio in their 2022 national signing day roster.

A three-sport standout at Napavine, Olson placed second in the shot put as a freshman at the 2B state track and field championships. He was named an AP all-state offensive and defensive lineman the same year, as well as Cascadia Preps’ 2B state Underclassmen of the Year.

His sophomore year on the basketball court, he averaged 16.8 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. As a junior Olson was selected to The Chronicle’s All-Area Boys Basketball Team after averaging 13.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

As a senior, he was named the Southwest Washington 2B Football League North Division’s Offensive MVP after paving the way for the Tigers to rush for over 4,200 yards and pass for over 1,900.
