Napavine’s win streak snapped in Brewster

Napavine’s five-game winning streak came to an end on Saturday, when the Tigers were defeated by Brewster 49-37.

Hayden Kaut left the game with an injury in the first quarter, but Napavine was able to do enough to take a slim lead into the locker room at halftime.

Brewster dominated the third, though, outscoring Napavine 19-6 in the frame to build a double-digit lead.

“I thought the girls battled hard three out of the four quarters,” Napavine coach Shane Schutz said. “In the third, we gave up too many offensive rebounds.”

Taylen Evander led the Tigers with 12 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Hannah Fay scored 10 points and added six rebounds and three assists.

“Hopefully, this will be a learning experience for us,” Schutz said. “I believe we will be better because of it.”

The Tigers are now off until the new year. They’ll be back home on Friday, Jan. 3 to host Lakes.
