New Ownership Announced at Fairway Lanes

After the pandemic permanently shuttered the Centralia’s beloved Fairway Lanes, the ball is once again rolling, with new ownership announced over Facebook.

Now, it’s Julie and Jeff Walker who will set up the pins and revive the 62-year-old joint.

It’s a spot so popular that last summer, long-time bowlers showed out with signs, rallying against the public health policies that forced its doors to close.

When former owners Steve and Tim Turner announced that the pandemic, along with family health concerns, would force the establishment to close for good, they also set out to find new owners who would opt to keep the bowling alley a bowling alley.

The Turners’ announcement Thursday that bowling will return to the Twin Cities prompted joyful reactions online, with their 72 people sharing the news within 24 hours and commenters recalling tournaments and family outings.

The lanes’ online announcement of their closure back in August garnered 795 shares.

The Walkers could not be immediately reached for comment. Look for more information about Fairway Lanes’ new ownership in future editions of The Chronicle.
