No Injuries Reported in Centralia House Fire on Wednesday

Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to a fully-involved house fire in the 800 block of Centralia College Boulevard on Wednesday.

No injuries to citizens or fire personnel had been reported as of Wednesday afternoon.

The Riverside Fire Authority was dispatched to the scene at approximately 10:14 a.m. on May 24, at which time onlookers reported smoke coming from the house, according to Riverside Fire Chief Mike Kytta.

Crews with the Riverside Fire Authority and the Chehalis Fire Department arrived to find a fully-involved fire inside a single-family house, with flames venting out the side of the building and up through the roof.

Due to the neighboring houses and a metal outbuilding in close proximity to the fire, Kytta raised the fire’s severity to a second-alarm fire and called in assistance from Lewis County Fire District 6.

As of noon on Wednesday, the house’s roof had collapsed and crews were still on the scene working to extinguish the fire.

The fire has caused some damage to the metal outbuilding, but firefighters prevented the fire from fully spreading to that structure or any of the neighboring houses, according to Kytta.

The cause of the fire was not apparent to fire crews on Wednesday, Kytta said.
