Bail has been set at $25,000 for a 33-year-old Onalaska man accused of molesting a 14-year-old in 2022.

The man, who The Chronicle is choosing not to name in order to protect the identity of the alleged victim, was arrested over the weekend after the victim disclosed the abuse to her mother, who in turn contacted law enforcement.

The man is accused of telling the victim “the doctor’s office had called and said her … physical wasn’t complete but he could finish it for her” and then molesting her, according to court documents.

He was charged Monday with two felony sex offenses, one a class B felony punishable up to 10 years in prison and one a class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, May 25.

A Lewis County Superior Court judge has issued a no-contact order protecting the victim. If he is released, the man is prohibited from having any contact with minors or from going anywhere minors are known to congregate, such as a school or a playground.
