Pe Ell falls to Naselle in non-league contest

The Pe Ell boys basketball team’s comeback effort fell short on Friday, as the Trojans couldn’t overcome an early double-digit deficit in a 54-47 loss to Naselle.

The Trojans trailed 19-9 after one and 30-21 at halftime, but a strong third quarter got them within two in the fourth.

They weren’t able to complete the comeback, however, as Naselle was able to outscore Pe Ell in the fourth to hold on for the win. It was a much closer contest than last Friday’s meeting between the two teams, which Naselle won by 32.

It was a heck of a 1B basketball game that showed how much we were able to improve after a hard week in practice,” Pe Ell coach Ross Hojem said. “Everyone is starting to fall into their roles … The Comets are well coached and closed it out down the stretch.”

Pe Ell (5-4, 2-0 1B CVL) will look to get back in the win column on Monday at Ocosta.
