Pe Ell Natives Celebrate 70 Years of Marriage

Bob and Lorraine Street, longtime Burien residents and graduates of Pe Ell High School Class of 1949, will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on March 24 with a family dinner.

Bob and Lorraine Street met in fifth grade in Pe Ell.

They were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pe Ell, in 1951 while Bob Street was on short leave from serving in the Army during the Korean War. After Bob Street returned from Korea, he earned a degree in music from Western Washington University.

The family then moved to Granger, where Bob Street taught band.

In 1961, the family moved to Burien. Together, Bob and Lorraine Street raised four children, Bobby, Gary, Cindy and Lora.

Throughout the years, Bob was well known for playing the saxophone and clarinet with many Seattle jazz and big band groups. He also owned and operated several businesses.

Lorraine Street focused her energy on raising their children. Later, she worked for Jerry Mayberry State Farm Insurance. Lorraine Street is a longtime member of the St. Francis Catholic Church in Burien.

Today, Bob and Lorraine Street enjoy spending time with their children, nine grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
