Pe Ells Bateman Earns Four First-Place Finishes

RAYMOND — Junior Kaytie Bateman racked up four first-place ribbons for Pe Ell in a six-way track meet here Thursday.

Despite Batemans huge effort, the Trojans placed fourth behind champion Ocosta (116), South Bend (103), and Raymond (90). Pe Ell had 77 points, followed by Willapa Valley (65) and North River (10).

Batemans best effort was a leap of 16-2 in the long jump, which set a Pe Ell school record by two inches. She also won the 400 (1:04.2), 100 hurdles (18.2) and the 200 (28.0).

Her sister, Karly, a freshman, won the high jump (4-6), took second in the triple jump (27-8) and long jump (13-4) and fourth in the 200 (30.8).



As for the boys, Pe Ell also took fourth with 41 points. South Bend won (186), followed by Willapa Valley (139), Raymond (71), Pe Ell, Ocosta (34) and North River (23).

The Trojans Marion McCoy won the high jump at 5-8, and took second in the long jump (18-6) and triple jump (38-5).

Tyler Frazier won the 110 hurdles (16.5) and Tucker Morgan was third in the javelin (131-2).

Pe Ell is back in action Thursday at Wahkiakum.
