A 46-year-old Olympia man was struck and killed on Interstate 5 near Exit 72 late Tuesday night, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The man, who is not being identified pending notification of next of kin, was in the left lane of southbound I-5 when he was struck by a semi-truck driven by a 53-year-old Tacoma man just before midnight.

The Tacoma man won’t face charges as the cause of the crash was the pedestrian being in the roadway, according to the state patrol.

Drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been a factor in the crash, according to the state patrol.
