Photo: Demolition of Peppertree West Hotel begins in Centralia after April fire
Crews work to tear down the remains of the Peppertree West Motor Inn off the Mellen Street exit in Centralia on Tuesday, Sept. 19, following a blaze that scorched the building last April. The property was sold to new owners in June. The new owner is listed as Centralia Top Holdings, LLC. The sale price was $2,577,035, according to the Lewis County parcels website. Jon Sitkin, of CSD Attorneys at Law in Bellingham, is listed as the governor of the LLC. The Chronicle reached out to Sitkin in July for details on the sale, including who the new owners are and what their plans for the Peppertree are, but he did not respond. As for the April fire, police arrested Todd H. Bergfalk, 52, of Onalaska, at the scene for allegedly setting the blaze.
