ADNA — Adna overcame four errors by coming up clutch late to secure a 6-5 home victory on Wednesday over Pe Ell-Willapa Valley in a non-league tuneup for Saturday’s district tournament.

Trailing 5-4 entering the bottom of the sixth, the Pirates plated two runs to take the lead for good before holding off the Titans in the seventh for the win.

Tristan Percival led the Pirates’ offensive attack, collecting three hits, including a triple, and driving in a run. Percival also tossed two innings as the starter, allowing one hit with three Ks.

Asher Guerrero earned the win on the mound in relief, and added two hits and two RBIs at the plate. Danner Hoinowski had a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game up at 5-5.

“We wanted to win on senior day, and all the seniors started,” Adna coach Jake LeDuc said. “It let us get our pitchers some work and our hitters to swing.”

Hunter Barnum led the Titans offense on 2 for 4 hitting with two RBIs and two runs. Derek Fluke also went 2 for 4, while Wil Clements scored twice.

Barnum also fanned four batters and allowed four runs on three hits in 2 1/3 innings on the mound. Garrett Keeton fanned eight batters in 3 1/3 scoreless innings with three hits and a walk.

“Overall, it was a good tuneup,” LeDuc said. “PWV is a decent team. They have some good arms. Barnum and Keeton threw well. It was everything we were looking for and I hope it was everything they were looking for.”

Adna faces Ocosta at 1 p.m. Saturday in Forks in a loser-out game at districts. Pe Ell-Willapa Valley takes on Napavine at 11 a.m. Saturday at Toutle Lake High School.
