Olympia police are looking for a man accused of voyeurism after he attempted to photograph or photographed a 9-year-old girl while she was using the bathroom at a west side bookstore.

About 7 p.m. Friday, police were dispatched to the Barnes & Noble in west Olympia after the girl's father called 911, Police Lt. Paul Lower said.

The girl said she had entered a bathroom stall when she saw someone walk in front of it. She then could see a phone camera pointed at her through a crack in the stall, according to Lower.

Police reviewed security camera footage that showed a man had entered the bathroom seconds after the girl had entered it. Seconds later the man was seen running out of the bathroom and the store, Lower said. No other person was in the bathroom at the time of the incident, he said.

The man was last seen wearing a black hoodie with what appears to be a black COVID-19 mask. He also was wearing black pajama-style pants with colorful images on them and gray or dark shoes.

Store management said they had seen the man in the store for a long time before he entered the bathroom, according to Lower.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to call Olympia police at 360-753-8300.
