The Port of Chehalis is accepting applications to fill a seat left vacant after former Commissioner Ken Kostick announced his departure last month.

The application is available online at www.portofchehalis.com. Qualified candidates must be  registered voters currently living within Port of Chehalis Commissioner District No. 2.

In addition to the application, candidates are also asked to submit a current resume and cover letter explaining why they want to serve on the port commission.

Application materials must be mailed or dropped off at the port office at 321 Maurin Road in Chehalis by 5 p.m. Monday, May 31.

The candidate selected will serve through the November general election. Following that election, the candidate voted into office will serve out the remainder of Kostick’s term through the end of 2025. Candidates interested in serving out the remainder of Kostick’s term will need to file to run for public office this week with the Lewis County Elections Office. That deadline is 4 p.m. Friday.
