Prep Girls Basketball: Warriors Down Eatonville

ROCHESTER — The Warriors overcame a rough second quarter here on Saturday in order to defeat Eatonville 44-34 in a non-league girls basketball contest.

Rochester ran out to a 19-8 lead after one quarter but allowed Eatonville to take the second frame 11-4 to cut make it a game before halftime.

Kya Stewart led the Cruisers with 13 points.

“I know they had way too many offensive rebounds,” said Rochester coach Davina Serdahl. “They were really physical. I was really surprised.”



The Warriors were able to right themselves at the intermission and won the third quarter 11-3 to put the game back in their control.

Paige Winter scored a game-high 14 points and snagged seven rebounds in the win while Lexie Sederberg-Jones notched 13 points and three steals. Kortney Kerbaugh added four points and a team-high nine rebounds.

“We played much better in the second half to take care of the win,” noted Serdahl.

Rochester (8-4, 1-1 league) will play at W.F. West on Tuesday.
