Prep Track & Field: Mossyrock Sweeps 2B Meet in Randle

    RANDLE — Three local teams faced off as the Mossyrock Vikings defeated Morton-White Pass and Winlock in boys and girls track and field action here at White Pass High School on Thursday.

    The Mossyrock boys scored 82 points, surpassing Morton-White Pass (57) and Winlock (20).

    The Vikings won the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 44.91 seconds and a team of Jess White, Rylen Hurd, Sam Stucki and Brandon Butler. All four members of the 4x100 team also would each place first in at least one other event.

    White took first in the 400 (56.00) and second in the 200 (25.35). Hurd won the triple jump (39 feet, 10 inches) and took second in the long jump (18-4). Stucki placed first in the 200 with a time of 24.22. Butler ran the 100 in 11.38 to finish first, and also finished first in the 800 (2:10).

    Both White and Butler also helped win the 4x200 relay along with Mackenzie Marasco and Levi Munoz. Munoz would win the 1600 (5:04) as well. Brett Callies showed his versatility, winning both the 300 hurdles in 50.69 and the javelin (122-11).

    Tristan Watson beat his personal best, as well as the rest of the competition, in the high jump with a 6-2 leap for Mossyrock.

    Morton-White Pass' Alex Hirte-Uhlhorn finished first in the 3200 (5:51). Ethan Sniezak won the pole vault (7-0) and Zach Elswick took first in long jump (19-4). Danny Cooper won both shot put (42-7.25) and discus (93-10).

    The Lady Vikings would also be the top scoring team with 69 points to MWP's 43 and Winlock's 21.

    Mossyrock's Amber St. Pierre won the 100 (13.81) and Ashley McKenna took the 200 (32.19). Hannah Voelker finished first in the 400 (1:13) and Calli Hensch jumped 4-10 to win the high jump. Alicia Herrera took gold in both the 800 (2:34) and the 1600 (5:47). Kelsie Moorcroft threw the shot put 28-2 and the discus 78-11, winning both events.

    Morton-White Pass's Haley Kolb won the 100 hurdles in 17.63. Madison King pole vaulted 6-6 for the win and Kenzie Anderson long jumped 15-6 for her victory.

    The MWP girls relay team consisting of Anderson, Kolb, Katie Auman and Jesseeka Hughes finished first in both the 4x200 (1:58) and the 4x400 (4:27).

    Mossyrock will participate in the Mountain Invite on April 18 at Yelm.

    Morton-White Pass will compete in a 2B League Meet at Napavine and the Winlock Cardinals will be at Rochester, respectively, on April 17.

Logger Boys Sweep Running Events; Lorton Wins Four



    CATHLAMET — Onalaska's Evan Wrzesinski and Riley Girt each won two races here Thursday in a four-team Central 2B League track meet, and Napavine's Kenya Lorton highlighted the girls side of the event with four wins.

    Wrzesinski won the 100 meters in 11.53 and the 200 in 23.70, while Girt took the 800 (2:22.16) and the 1600 (5:01.78). Teammate Dorian Gattepaiffe won the 400 (55.66), and Gavin Van Clifford won the 3200 (11:49.29), giving Onalaska a clean sweep in the individual running events.

    Napavine's Tristan Erven swept the hurdle races, winning the 110 in 18.57 and the 300 in 44.84. The Tiger boys swept the throwing events, with Chase VanWyck winning the shot put (41 feet, 6 inches), Jacob Johnston winning the discus (123-8) and Bailey Robertson taking the javelin (127-2).

    Pe Ell's Josh Schulz won the long jump (19 feet) and the triple jump (41-2.25), and Onalaska's Tylar Gravely won the high jump at 5-8.

    On the girls side, Lorton — a freshman — won all four of her events, taking first in the triple jump (32-0.75) and the long jump (15-8), and sweeping the hurdles races with a win in the 100 (18.66) and the 300 (52.95). Teammate Brittney Dickinson won the discus (77-4), while Napavine's Mecaela Chapman won the javelin (103-8) and Angel Parker won the high jump (4-2).

    Onalaska's Darien Whitney won the 100 and 200 for the Loggers (13.34 and 28.59), while teammate Bernie Hayden won the 1600 (6:08.14) and the 3200 (12:41.07).

    Napavine will host a 2B league meet with Adna, Morton-White Pass, Pe Ell and Wahkiakum on Thursday, April 17. Onalaska will run at Stevenson's Al McKee Invitational on Saturday, April 19.

Rochester's Triana Sweeps Hurdles

    ROCHESTER — Cody Triana swept the hurdle races for the Warrior boys in a four-team home SWW 1A League track meet here Thursday.

    Triana, a junior, won the 110 meter hurdles in 16.07 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 43.12. Teammate Josh Kennedy earned gold in the high jump, leaping 5 feet, 10 inches. He also trailed Triana, earning second in the 110 hurdles (17.60) and the 300 hurdles (44.25).

    La Center won the team titles on the boys and girls sides.

    For the Rochester girls, Keeli Demers placed in the top four in three different events, including first in javelin (95-1), third in the discus and fourth in the shot put. Kendra Sanford swept the hurdles, winning the 100 in 17.06 and the 300 in 50.15.

    Sanford was also a member of the winning 4x200 relay team (1:52) with Alexa Black, Brianna Tomtan and Sharon Smith.

    The Warriors will host another home meet on April 17th at 3:30 p.m.
