Prep Wrestling: Bearcats Get Battle Tested in Beaverton

BEAVERTON, Ore. — W.F. West came here to Westview High School on Friday in search of some top flight competition and found exactly what they were looking for. In a multifaceted dual match the Bearcats were able to down McMinnville 50-19 before falling to West Albany 30-29 and then managed a reversal for a 58-13 win over the hosts from Westview.

“We came down here and wrestled a couple of top ten ranked Oregon schools,” said W.F. West coach Jamie Rakevich.

“Bryson Boyd wrestled really well. He lost his first match but bounced back to win his next two,” noted Rakevich.

Rakevich added that Daniel Matagi wrestled well in all of his matches.

“We wrestled a lot better today than we did yesterday. Even the guys that lost competed a lot better,” said Rakevich. “We came down here and got some good mat time against some real good competition.”

W.F. West will host Aberdeen on Wednesday.
