Thayer Takes Title at Bash at the Beach

OCEAN SHORES — Winlock’s Duty Thayer picked up a championship here Saturday at North Beach High School’s Bash at the Beach wrestling tournament.

Thayer, in the 126-pound division, notched a first-round pin in the semifinals, then went back-and-forth in the finals before getting a third-round pin.

Winlock’s Kyle Patton went 2-2 to finish fourth at 285 pounds.

Napavine had four wrestlers on the podium, with Joey Krause (145), Grant Bennett (195), and Grace Miller (145, girls) all taking second. Kayla Bornstein (135, girls) took third.

Winlock and Napavine wrestle in a mix-and-match meet in Adna on Tuesday, starting at 5:30 p.m.



Lancaster, Cohron, Schlecht Win at Draper Memorial

RIDGEFIELD — The Warriors finished second as a team here Saturday at the Wyatt Draper Memorial Tournament, with three Rochester wrestlers winning their individual brackets.

Jayden Lancaster took first at 160 pounds, Dailin Schlecht won the title at 138, and Riley Cohron was a champion at 152.

Freshman Grayson Patterson added a second-place finish at 126, while Kalob Spann took third (170) and Elizjah Spitzer was fourth (285).

Rochester hosts W.F. West on Thursday in an Evergreen 2A Conference dual match.
