The Rainier softball team had to hold off a late rally from Onalaska, but the Mountaineers were able to come away with a 6-5 victory, their third in a row.

Rainier took the lead early, scoring on an RBI single from Kiera Anderson in the first, and added two more on home runs from Elaina Henry and Anderson in the third.

Onalaska responded with two runs of its own, but Rainier pushed its lead to 6-2 with three in the fourth.

The Loggers chipped away with one in the bottom of the fourth and fifth, and they were able to make it a one-run game on a sacrifice fly from Kate Zandell in the seventh. The tying run stood at second, but was stranded there.

Anderson and Henry finished with a combined three RBIs and Mia Naval finished with two hits and an RBI of her own.

Zandell went 2 for 4 with a double, two RBIs, and she scored two runs, and Kaiyah Sandridge hit a triple and drove in two to cap her two-hit day.

Both teams are back on Monday, when Rainier (3-2) hosts Mossyrock and Onalaska (2-3, 1-2 C2BL) visits Toledo.
