Leading from start to finish before holding in the fifth for a run-rule win, the Rainier softball team handily defeated Morton-White Pass Thursday afternoon in Thurston County, 13-3.

Ryleigh Cruse was dominant in the circle again until a couple of errors and hits let in three runs in the fifth, allowing five hits with just one of the three runs earned with a pair of strikeouts.

Cruse also smacked two doubles, going 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored. Madison Mounts hit a 3-RBI base knock, and Brooklynn Swenson went 2 for 2 with three runs scored and an RBI.

Kyra Bowen scored a run and went 1 for 2 for MWP, and Natalia Armstrong threw a complete game with seven strikeouts, with eight of the 13 runs scored earned.

Morton-White Pass will look to bounce back on Saturday, taking on Toledo at home while Rainier hosts 1B Mossyrock on Tuesday.
