The Rainier girls basketball team went east for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday, and the Mountaineers came home with two wins to extend their winning streak to five.
On Friday, the Mountaineers had to come back to beat Brewster 47-46. They trailed by eight after one, but outscored the Bears 32-21 over the next two frames to take a three-point lead.
The game came down to the final few possessions, but Rainier held on for the win.
Angelica Askey led Rainier with 24 points, while Janess Blackburn added 14.
Saturday’s win was much more comfortable, as the Mountaineers breezed past Okanogan for a 52-34 win. Rainier was up nine after one, 15 at halftime, and 32 after three.
Blackburn and Askey both scored 11 points, while Lexi Beckman scored 10 and Brooklynn Swenson added nine. Kaysen Bravo scored seven, and Jazzlyn Shumate logged four.
The Mountaineers (7-1) are now off until the new year. They’ll head to Aberdeen for a non-league matchup on Thursday, Jan. 2.
