Playing in a non-league contest on the coast, the Rainier boys basketball team soundly beat Raymond Thursday night, 60-36.

Jake Meldrum scored 23 points in the win to lead the way, and Josh Meldrum and Jimmy Meldrum had 19 and 10 points to round out double figure scorers, respectively.

In the first half we played with great energy and we were able to get out in transition a bit,” Mountaineers coach Ben Sheaffer said. “We had some great looks against their zone in our half court offense, but shots just weren't falling. In the third quarter, things really opened up for us as we started to move the ball better and incorporate our post guys. We began to work inside out and get some really quality looks at the 3.”

The Mountaineers outscored the Seagulls, 22-5 in the third frame to take a commanding lead and ride out the win.

Rainier will host North Beach after a week off December 29.
