While almost all photos submitted to The Chronicle arrive electronically via message or e-mail, this one arrived in the mail this week along with a typewritten note from Carol Ponder: “This beautiful picture was taken by my grandniece Jill Evens, who lives with her husband on the Penning Road on a hill in Adna. She was leaving for work early in the morning of Aug. 26, 2023. when she took this picture. There had been a terrible storm the night before.
