It wasn’t a clear-cut sweep for Onalaska on Thursday, but it was a sweep nonetheless as the Loggers topped Toledo 25-20, 25-20, 25-23 in a non-league matchup.

“Tonight was a rough night,” Onalaska coach Susan Gordon said. “We have played three games a week the last two weeks and have had a tournament both Saturdays. It’s starting to show that we need a little break and rest.”

Though they were fatigued, the Loggers were able to hold off the Riverhawks, and they were led once again by Emalie Jacoby.

Jacoby didn’t have a single hitting error in 25 attempts, and she tallied 19 kills and 10 digs. Braelyn Babb logged 31 assists, while Capri McGraw added eight digs. Leah Hamilton delivered five aces from the service line, while Sommer Hammer recorded three blocks and three kills at the net.

Despite the loss, Toledo coach Kelli Larson was proud of the way that the Riverhawks battled.

“That was a fantastic match to watch,” Larson said. “We look forward to playing them again.”

Taysia Miller and Ellie Fallon led the way defensively with 13 digs each, while Fallon added four kills and Miller delivered three aces. Abby Umbriaco also had success serving with four aces, and Lexi Young connected on five kills.

Both teams are back in action on Tuesday, as Onalaska (6-1) will host Toutle Lake and Toledo will host Morton-White Pass. Both of those matchups are listed as non-league games.
