Riverhawks Fall in Opening Round of Districts

Toledo found itself in foul trouble late and surrendered a third-quarter lead in a 45-39 loss to Chief Leschi in the opening round of the 2B District 4 playoffs on Saturday.

“It went real good for the first three quarters,” Toledo coach Randy Wood said. “Then we got into foul trouble and it was a struggle for us. We had trouble with their pressure.”

After a neck-and-neck first half, the Riverhawks built a three-point lead heading into the final frame, but a slew of fouls forced Greenlee Clark to sit on the bench until two minutes left in the game. Clark eventually fouled out after scoring a team-high 19 points.

The Warriors took advantage, ending the game on a 12-3 run and handing the Riverhawks a loss.

“We gotta focus, take care of the basketball and execute our offense better,” Wood said.

Toledo will now face North Beach at 6 p.m., Tuesday, at Rochester High School in a loser-out match.
