Riverhawks Hold Off Titans in Barnburner

In a high-scoring affair, the Toledo baseball team did just enough to hold off the red hot bats of Pe Ell-Willapa Valley, 14-13, Monday evening in Pe Ell.

The Riverhawks put six on the Titans in the top of the first inning, and allowed just two runs through the first four innings, but an eight-spot from the Titans in the fifth inning made it anyone’s game, and heading to the seventh, it was all knotted up at 11-11.

Led by its bats, Toledo put three on the board in the seventh, and Conor Gilreath did enough to earn the save on the mound in the win.

Geoffrey Glass led the Riverhawks at the plate, batting 4 for 5 with two runs scored and four RBIs, Rayder Stemkoski added three RBIs of his own.

For the Titans, Garrett Keeton hit a home run, going 2 for 3 with three runs scored and three RBIs, and two walks drawn. Derek Fluke added a 2 for 4 line with a run scored and three RBIs.

The Riverhawks will look to build off this win as they head into districts as the Central 2B’s No. 3 seed. PWV will play Adna on Wednesday.
