Riverhawks Sweep Mules in Home Doubleheader

TOLEDO — After a tightly contested first game that saw the Toledo baseball team eek out a 5-4 win, the Riverhawks doubled down and opened the floodgates on Wahkiakum in a 13-4 second win of a home doubleheader.

In the first game, the Riverhawks got out to an early lead thanks to a couple of Mules errors in the third inning, and after trading blows in the fifth inning, Caiden Schultz came out onto the mound and struck out three batters to end the threat and record the save.

The second game was much less close, with the Riverhawks overcoming a four-run Mule second inning with a four-run bottom inning and eight more runs in the fourth and fifth to end the game in five innings.

Mason Miller pitched the first game, and came back to record two RBIs in the second on 1 of 3 hitting, with five other batters (Justin Filla, Geoffrey Glass, Conor Gilreath, Carson Gould, and Ryker Sorenson) also recording RBIs.

The Riverhawks will look to keep it rolling against Adna on Thursday on the road.
