Roberta Mae Simpson, 75, passed away Nov. 12, 2019, at her home in Chehalis, Wash., surrounded by loved ones. The second of four children, she was born prematurely to Roy and Gladys Hanson, Jan. 23, 1944, in Oakville, Ill. At the age of five, Roberta moved with her family to Long Beach, Calif., and later resided for most of her school-age years in Monrovia, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Gladys Hanson; sister, Gail Ware; and brother, Roy Hanson Jr.

Roberta is survived by her husband, James Simpson; and brother, Greg Hanson of Arcadia, Calif. She raised two amazing children, daughter, Linda Alcorn of Maple Valley, Wash.; and son, Robert Hixon of Kent, Wash.; with her late husband, William Hixon; and six grandchildren, Amanda Alcorn, Christopher Alcorn, William Hixon, Jacob Hixon, Morgan Hixon and Juleea Hixon.

She remarried in 1990 to James Simpson. They resided for a short while in Pomona and Long Beach, Calif. Following her retirement from General Telephone, they relocated to their home in Chehalis, Wash., in 1998. In her free time, Bobbie, as her family and friends called her, loved shopping, especially for shoes and jewelry, beating her friends at a rousing game of cards and leaving many deep burgundy lipstick kisses on the cheeks of one of her six grandchildren. She was a woman who would never be caught without her matching mani-pedi.

Roberta will be greatly missed by all those who

were graced and adored by her enormous heart.

A celebration of life for Bobbie will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Dec. 14, 2019, at the home of longtime friends, Elwin and Linda Nowa, 280-10 McLaughlin Rd., Chehalis, WA 98532.
