Rochester boys take second at 1A Evergreen meet

Led by three top-10 finishers, the Rochester boys cross country team took second in a four-team 1A Evergreen meet on Thursday at Rochester High School.

Senior Gunnar Morgan led the Warriors with a time of 17:46.14 to finish third, while Hunter Young (20:07.46) placed eighth and Lodun Coombs (20:13.94) rounded out the top 10.

The trio helped Rochester score 56 points, 16 behind first-place Montesano and three points ahead of third-place Tenino.

Tristan Von Bargen led the Beavers with a time of 18:17.36 and a fourth-place finish, while Carter Mounts finished sixth in 19:07.30.



Rochester’s Kian Chrstiansen finished in the top 20, taking 13th with a time of 20:31.10, while Tenino’s Sevrin Mickelson (20:37.79) and Justin Schlesner (20:39.00) finished back-to-back at 15th and 16th.

On the girls side, Tenino’s Brynn Williams was the top local finisher, as she took fourth by finishing in 22:29.37. Fellow Beaver Haley Huber took seventh with a time of 24:56.90, and Chloe Suess also finished in the top 15 at 27:54.14.

Rochester didn’t have enough female runners to post a team score, but Mercedies Dupont earned an eighth-place finish at 25:00.90 and Seraschel Aldrich placed 12th by clocking a 25:46.51.
