Schall, Tafoya Win at 1A Evergreen Championships

The Tenino track and field team finished fifth out of five schools on both the boys’ and girls’ sides at the 1A Evergreen League Championships in Montesano on Friday, but several Beavers will have their seasons continue at Districts after placing high enough in their individual events.

Carson Schall won the 110-meter hurdles (16.90) and the 300-meter hurdles (47.72), and ran a leg of the 4x400 relay team — along with Blaine Schott, Kaeden Iselin, and Austin Johnson — that finished fourth in 3:54.60 to qualify.

Schott won the boys 200-meter dash in 23.89 and took second in the 100 in 11.94. Johnson came in second in the 200 at 24.42. Tristan Von Bargen qualified in the 1,600 with a time of 5:07.84.



In the field, Johnson qualified with a third-place finish in the long jump (18 feet, 6 inches), while Andres Zamudio was second in the shot put (43 feet, 9.5 inches).

On the girls’ side, Trinity Tafoya moves on after winning the shot put (35 feet, 7 inches), while Paisley Garcia won the 300-meter hurdles (50.95) and took second in the 100-meter hurdles (18.09). Mj Gallwas was third in the 400 (1:08.45), Kyra Dirks was fourth in the 800 (2:58.51), and Brynn Williams was third in both the 1,600 (6:34.43) and the 3,200 (13:52.55).
