All women and girls in Lewis County between the ages of 13 and 28 are invited to apply for the 2024 Miss Lewis County or Miss Teen Lewis County programs between now and Dec. 10.
The programs officially take place in March 2024, with the first candidate and parent meetings scheduled for early January.
The Miss Lewis County Scholarship Program recently held a “Coffee With the Crown” event with current Miss Lewis County Myah O’Neill, Miss Thurston County’s Teen Emma Adams and Miss Washington’s Teen Emily Hamilton for potential applicants to learn more about the Miss and Teen programs.
Those who weren’t able to attend can direct questions to misslewiscountypublic@gmail.com. Since the first Miss Lewis County was crowned in 1962, the Miss Lewis County Scholarship Program has held a yearly competition providing educational scholarships to young women. Program organizers announced the introduction of the teen division earlier this year.
A local chapter of the Miss America program, contestants in both divisions are judged on pre-pageant interviews, on-stage questions, the “red carpet” portion and a talent show.
Applying for the program is free and every contestant can walk away with scholarship money, according to organizers.
The current age bracket for the Miss Lewis County competition is 18 to 28, but contestants who are 18 years old must turn 19 by Dec. 31, 2024.
The teen division is open to girls ages 13 to 18, but contestants who are 18 must not turn 19 before Jan. 1, 2025.
All contestants must live, work or attend school full time in Lewis County.
Candidates must be available to serve as the official hostesses of Lewis County from March 2024 until March 2025. The winners will also compete in the Miss Washington Scholarship Program in July 2024.
“As the Miss Lewis County Scholarship Program supports education, every effort will be made to accommodate her school schedule,” organizers stated in the application material.
