Seminary Hill Photography Contest Winners Announced

The winners of the Friends of the Seminary Hill Natural Area annual photography contest were announced on Dec. 9 in a news release. Among the adult contestants, Stephanie Eschenwald won first place for her photograph titled, “Snail Travel.” Among youth contestants, Ella Harless, age 16, won first place for her photograph titled “Vibrance of Life.”

  • Honorable Mention: Arthur Smith for “"Snowclad Cedar"
  • Honorable Mention: Stephanie Eschenwald for “Knotty Trunk
  • Judge’s Choice recognition: Stephen Lund for “Morning Glory
  • Judge’s Choice recognition: Gretchen Staebler for “Webmaster
  • Judge's Choice recognition: Catherine Hensel for “Look Up

Winners received a variety of prizes ranging from $100 in cash to gift certificates to Holley’s Place in Centralia. 

All 12 of the award-winning photos have been featured in the Friends of the Seminary Hill Natural Area 2023 calendar, which are currently for sale at Hubbub in Centralia and Book N Brush in Chehalis.

Calendars will be available for purchase at the Friends of the Seminary Hill Natural Area annual meeting. The meeting is scheduled for Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. in the Centralia Timberland Regional Library’s meeting room.  

The Friends of the Seminary Hill Natural Area is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to maintaining the Seminary Hill Natural Area in Centralia.
