Sirens: Drugs found in juvenile's bedroom; hit-and-run driver crashes again; man on freeway 'seeing things that were not present'

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• A beverage was reported stolen from a convenience store in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue just before 7:05 a.m. on Aug. 28.

• A theft was reported at a business in the 1300 block of Lum Road just before 4:20 p.m. on Aug. 29. The suspect fled the area before officers arrived.

 

Fraud

• A citizen at the Centralia Police Department station in the 100 block of West Maple Street reported fraudulent transactions on a bank account at 2:55 p.m. on Aug. 29. The case is under investigation.

 

Criminal trespass

• A homeless man was trespassed from a business in the 300 block of North Gold Street just after 7:55 a.m. on Aug. 28 at the management’s request.

• A homeless Centralia resident was trespassed from a business in the 300 block of North Gold Street just before 4:55 p.m. on Aug. 28 after they were involved in a dispute.

• A Centralia resident was trespassed from a business in the 500 block of North Tower Avenue just after 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 28 for disorderly conduct.

• A homeless Lacey resident was trespassed from a business in the 100 block of North Gold Street at 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 for disorderly conduct.

 

Drug violations

• Two Chehalis residents were arrested for possession of narcotics during a traffic stop in the 200 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue just after 4:20 p.m. on Aug. 28. A third Chehalis resident was arrested on an outstanding warrant.



• A citizen reported finding drugs/drug paraphernalia in a juvenile’s bedroom in the 2300 block of Sirkka Avenue just before 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 29. The case was referred to the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

 

DUI

• A 34-year-old Port Angeles woman was arrested for being involved in a hit-and-run and then crashing her vehicle at the intersection of West Bridge Street and Harrison Avenue at 6 p.m. on Aug. 28. She was under the influence at the time of the collision, according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

Man walking on freeway

• An officer contacted a man who was walking north on Interstate 5 between the northbound and southbound lanes of travel near milepost 79 just before 6:55 a.m. on Aug. 29. The officer noted that the man “was seeing things that were not present and appeared to be under the influence of drugs,” according to the Centralia Police Department. The officer transported the man off the freeway for safety purposes. He was then transported to Providence Centralia Hospital for evaluation.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 54 illness-related calls, 14 injury-related calls, 13 fire-related calls, six non-emergency service calls, five vehicle accidents, two Lifeline medical alerts, two overdoses, one department assist request and one ambulance request.

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 152 inmates, including 139 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 110 were reported male and 29 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Friday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 15 inmates, including five booked by the Centralia Police Department, five booked by the state Department of Corrections, three booked by the Lummi Nation, one booked by the Skokomish Tribe and one booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement.
