Sirens: Family of missing man reports he might be in Centralia; Gas line break prompts road closure

Malicious mischief

• Damage to a vehicle in the 1900 block of Cooks Hill Road was reported at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Dec. 29. The case is under investigation.

• Graffiti was reported in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue just after 5:15 p.m. on Dec. 31. The reporting party had made an anonymous report to a Chehalis police officer, saying juveniles were seen spray painting a building in Centralia. Centralia officers located graffiti in the area, but could not determine how old it was.

 

Criminal impersonation

• A 28-year-old Shelton man was arrested in the 600 block of South Tower Avenue just after 10:15 p.m. on Dec. 29 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail on a felony warrant and for criminal impersonation after he allegedly gave a false name to officers who contacted him.

• A 33-year-old Mossyrock man was arrested in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 2:05 p.m. on Dec. 31 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail on an outstanding warrant after he allegedly gave officers a false name, “obstructed the investigation” and attempted to flee.

 

Drug violation

• A 60-year-old Centralia man was referred to a local prosecutor's office on possession of drug paraphernalia charges after officers contacted him inside a vehicle in the 1000 block of Grand Avenue just before 9:20 a.m. on Dec. 30. An officer reportedly found the man “slumped over in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle” and found “a smoking device with white and black residue” when they checked on the man.

 

Criminal trespass

• Three homeless people were moved along from a business property in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue “in which they had set up a makeshift camp” just before 10:15 a.m. on Dec. 30.

 

Assault

• A 56-year-old Centralia man was referred to a local prosecutor’s office on fourth-degree assault charges following an incident reported in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue just before 10:50 a.m. on Dec. 30. The man fled the scene before officers arrived.

• A fourth-degree assault reported in the 900 block of Harrison Avenue at 1:25 a.m. on Jan. 1 is under investigation.

 

Missing person

• Just before 1 p.m. on Dec. 30, the family of a missing person, identified as Jeremy B. Beck, 42, reported he may be in the Centralia area. Beck was initially reported missing to the Lacey Police Department. He was last seen on or around Nov. 23. The Centralia Police Department asks anyone who knows or has seen Beck to call the non-emergency dispatch line at 360-740-1105.



 

Vehicle accident

• A mid-size passenger car struck a building in a private parking lot in the 500 block of West Main Street just after 2:05 p.m. on Dec. 30 after “the driver mistakenly stepped on the gas while trying to park.” No injuries were reported, but both the building and the car were damaged.

 

DUI

• A 24-year-old Rochester man was arrested at the intersection of West First and N streets and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for DUI after he was stopped for “traffic-related offenses.”

 

Theft

• A 35-year-old Chehalis man was referred to a local prosecutor’s office on theft charges after an officer reportedly saw him steal clothing from an outlet store in the 100 block of West High Street just before 4 p.m. on Dec. 30.

• A vehicle’s side windows were reported stolen from the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard just after 12:15 a.m. on Jan. 1. The case is under investigation.

 

Burglary

A burglary to a “fully enclosed area” in the 100 block of Harrison Avenue was reported just after 2:15 a.m. on Jan. 1. Soda was reported stolen. The case is under investigation.

 

Disorderly conduct

• A 55-year-old Centralia man was arrested in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue just after 5 p.m. on Dec. 30 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for disorderly conduct after he allegedly went into several businesses while intoxicated and made threats towards customers and employees.

 

Department assist

• The 1300 block of Lum Road was “temporarily shut down” after a live gas line was accidentally cut during construction work at 5:05 p.m. on Dec. 31. No injuries were reported.
