Sirens: Inappropriate photos of child, controlled substance homicide investigation, man seen defecating in the street

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• Fuel was reported stolen from a business vehicle in the 1000 block of South Gold Street just before 10:25 a.m. on Dec. 11. 

• A caller in the 1700 block of Midway Court reported a theft of services at approximately 2:25 p.m. on Dec. 11. Someone was reportedly throwing garbage into their dumpster. 

• A 33-year-old Winlock man accused of shoplifting from a store in the 400 block of East Summa Street at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Dec. 11 was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for identity theft. 

 

Criminal trespass 

• A homeless woman was trespassed from a business in the 100 block of South Silver Street just after 2:20 p.m. on Dec. 11 at the business management’s request. 

• A homeless woman was trespassed for life from a shelter in the 100 block of North Gold Street just before 10:05 p.m. on Dec. 12 for reportedly “being disorderly and causing issues with others inside the shelter.” 

 

Inappropriate photos of child 

• Just before 12:45 p.m. on Dec. 12, there was a report from Centralia Middle School in the 900 block of Johnson Road of “inappropriate photos of a 12-year-old being sent over an online application,” according to the Centralia Police Department. The case is under investigation and no additional information is being released at this time, the department stated in a news release. 

 

Dogs at large 

• Two loose dogs were caught and returned to their owner after they reportedly killed another animal in the 1100 block of L Street at 3 p.m. on Dec. 12. “The owner will likely be cited for animals at large and failing to license the two dogs. An investigation into the dogs being dangerous is also being conducted and is ongoing,” according to the Centralia Police Department. 

 

Homicide 

• Just before 6:40 p.m. on Dec. 12, officers responded to a report of a deceased 32-year-old male who was found by his family inside his residence in the 800 block of West Main Street. During the initial investigation, detectives “determined that fentanyl may have contributed to the death,” according to the Centralia Police Department. The case is being investigated as a controlled substance homicide. 

 

Harassment 

• At 6:40 a.m. on Dec. 13, a man reported another man threatened him with an ax in the 1000 block of Grand Avenue. “The investigation revealed that there were no threats with the ax towards the reporting party,” according to the Centralia Police Department. The reporting party was advised to seek a civil anti-harassment order through the courts. 

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Suspicious circumstances 

• A suspicious male subject was reportedly outside a store in the 900 block of Northwest State Avenue with “a ton of paint cans” just after 12:50 p.m. on Dec. 11. The subject advised he was picking up trash. 

• “Suspicious circumstances” reported in the 400 block of South Tower Avenue just before 2:55 p.m. on Dec. 11 are under investigation. 

• Just before 6:10 p.m. on Dec. 11, a caller in the 2100 block of Southwest Woodland Circle reported “someone walked into her house.” 

• A male subject was reportedly pointing a “red and orange Nerf gun” at vehicles in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 12. 

 

Dispute 

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 12:50 p.m. on Dec. 11. 



 

Criminal trespass 

• A homeless person who was reportedly sleeping in the lobby of a building in the 200 block of Northwest Cascade Avenue just after 1:15 p.m. on Dec. 11 was trespassed from the property. 

• A caller advised three subjects were setting up camp at a bus stop in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 11. The subjects advised they were “trying to downsize and organize property” and would leave shortly.

• A subject was reportedly trespassing in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 6 a.m. on Dec. 12. 

• A homeless subject was trespassed from a property in the 10 block of Northeast Cascade Avenue just before 5:50 p.m. on Dec. 12. 

• A criminal trespass reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 9:05 p.m. on Dec. 12 is under investigation. 

 

Assault 

• A third-degree assault reported in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street at approximately 1:55 p.m. on Dec. 11 is under investigation. 

 

Indecent exposure 

• A caller reported a homeless man was “defecating in the street” in the 300 block of Southwest 13th Street just after 8:15 a.m. on Dec. 12. A responding officer was unable to locate the suspect and was “also unable to locate fecal deposits.” 

 

Welfare check 

• A caller requested a welfare check on an elderly man who was possibly lost in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 2:55 p.m. on Dec. 11. 

 

Theft 

• An attempted theft reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at approximately 3:35 p.m. on Dec. 11 is under investigation. 

 

Malicious mischief 

• A man was reportedly throwing rocks at cars on the freeway from an overpass in the 600 block of Northwest Chamber of Commerce Way just before 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 11. 

 

Child abuse or neglect 

• A case of “child abuse or neglect” reported in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court just before 4:25 p.m. on Dec. 12 is under investigation. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 149 inmates, including 136 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 111 were reported male and 25 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
