Chargings

• Shaquille Brisco Morgan, 31, of Portland, Oregon, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail at 9 a.m. on May 21 on a $10,000 warrant for first-degree organized retail theft and second-degree theft charges that were filed in Lewis County Superior Court on Feb. 14. Morgan is accused of stealing a bracelet worth $2,000 from Kay Jewelry in Centralia on Jan. 12. An associate from a jewelry store in Oregon reportedly told staff that Morgan had been allowed to handle a piece of jewelry worth $17,000 and had run off with it on Dec. 29, and advised an employee of Kay Jewelry that “she should not let him handle any jewelry because he would likely run off with it as he did down there,” according to court documents. Morgan, who is Black, reportedly asked to handle a diamond and gold bracelet and was told no. “The male then began to complain that she (the employee) was not letting him hold it because he was Black,” according to court documents, which stated, “Because of that, (the employee) let him hold the bracelet.” Morgan then allegedly put the bracelet on and ran out of the store. Bail is set at $10,000 and arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, May 29.
