Sirens: Man threatens to kill police; Porch pirate caught in the act; Officers find unconscious woman

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Agency assists

• Officers assisted Child Protective Services in responding to reports that a male subject “was making threats to kill police officers and then himself” in the 1300 block of Harrison Avenue just after 10:20 a.m. on Dec. 18. The reporting party said other people were inside an apartment with the subject. An officer contacted the reporting party, who advised “all communication had been cut off.” The subject ultimately left the apartment and was taken into protective custody, according to the Centralia Police Department.

• Centralia officers assisted Lewis County Sheriff’s Office personnel with a trespass in progress at a residence in the 2700 block of Sandra Avenue at 1:40 p.m. on Dec. 19. Officers located a woman and trespassed her from the property.

 

Malicious mischief

• Graffiti was reported on a school desk at Centralia Middle School at 11:40 a.m. on Dec. 18. The school asked for the graffiti to be documented, but said the school doesn’t want to pursue charges.

 

Theft

• A male and a female reportedly stole over $1,800 in merchandise from a business in the 1400 block of Lum Road at approximately 11:45 a.m. on Dec. 18. The case is under investigation.

• A 35-year-old Chehalis woman was cited for third-degree theft in the 1200 block of Harrison Avenue just after 2:55 p.m. on Dec. 18.

• Just after 10:45 a.m. on Dec. 19, a caller reported a “suspicious male” attempted to take a “box or package package containing shoes” on the porch of a residence in the 400 block of North Oak Street. The male “ran away and dropped the shoes” when the caller confronted the male. An officer who searched the area wasn’t able to locate the suspect. 

• At approximately 2:50 p.m. on Dec. 19, a caller in the 200 block of West Oakview Avenue reported a flag on her property in the 200 block of West Oakview Avenue had been stolen and her flag pole was damaged. She advised the same incident occurred earlier this month.

 

Found dogs

• A dog that was found at the intersection of Cooks Hill Road and Swanson Drive just after 1:20 p.m. on Dec. 18 was taken into protective custody. “Its mugshot (was) posted to Facebook in an effort to locate the owner and return the four legged friend,” the Centralia Police Department stated in a news release.

• A gray “pitbull-type puppy” was found in the Safeway parking lot in the 100 block of West Maple Street just before 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 19. The puppy was given to the Centralia Police Department, which posted the puppy’s picture on the department’s Facebook page in an attempt to locate the owner.

 

Suspicious vehicle

• Officers responded to a report “of a black car driving by with a gun” in the 400 block of West Summa Street just after 2:05 p.m. on Dec. 18. An officer who checked with neighbors and reviewed their camera footage “did not find any unusual activity,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

Assault

• A 22-year-old Centralia woman was cited for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence at 10:55 p.m. on Dec. 18 after she allegedly assaulted her mother at a residence in the 3200 block of Galvin Road and fled out a window when officers arrived.

 

Criminal trespass

• At 9:20 a.m. on Dec. 19, a business in the 600 block of North Tower Avenue contacted officers about several homeless people who refused to leave the business’s property when asked. The subjects were trespassed from the property at the business owner’s request.

 

Vehicle accident

• A single-vehicle collision with possible injuries was reported at the intersection of North Gold Street and Roswell Road just after 12:35 p.m. on Dec. 19. During the investigation, officers learned the vehicle’s driver, a 27-year-old Centralia man, “was driving at an excessive speed, causing other motorists to pull over to the side of the roadway,” according to the Centralia Police Department. The man was treated for possible injuries at the scene and was cited for reckless driving.

 

Drug violation

• A juvenile in the 2300 block of Sirkka Avenue was referred to Lewis County Juvenile Court for possession of cannabis at approximately 2:40 p.m. on Dec. 19. 

 

Dispute

• A physical dispute reported in the 400 block of South Gold Street at 10:35 p.m. on Dec. 19 is under investigation. Patrol officers were called to the area on a report that a woman “had assaulted a man in the alley.” Officers “found the woman unconscious and medics advised she was exhibiting signs of a head injury,” according to the Centralia Police Department.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Sexual misconduct

• A case of child molestation reported in the 600 block of Southeast Dobson Court at approximately 8:40 a.m. on Dec. 18 is under investigation.

• A case of sexual misconduct reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at approximately 10:20 a.m. on Dec. 19 is under investigation.

 

Criminal trespass



• Just after 10:15 a.m. on Dec. 18, a business in the 600 block of Northwest State Avenue asked officers to trespass a homeless man who was reportedly smoking and drinking alcohol in front of the business and refused to leave.

• Potential trespassing was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 1:55 p.m. on Dec. 18.

• Criminal trespassing reported in the 600 block of Northwest Prindle Street just before 2 p.m. on Dec. 18 is under investigation.

• A case of trespassing was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 8:45 p.m. on Dec. 18.

• Several subjects were reportedly sleeping on the floor of a property in the 200 block of Northwest State Avenue at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 19. The subjects left while the reporting party was on the phone with the police.

• A male subject reportedly trespassed at a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 4:55 p.m. on Dec. 19.

• A criminal trespassing case reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 19 is under investigation.

• Several subjects who were loitering behind a business in the 800 block of South Market Boulevard at 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 19 were trespassed from the property.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• Just after 10:50 a.m. on Dec. 18, a caller reported a relative in the 100 block of Southeast Ninth Street was “threatening to steal his stuff and murder his cat and girlfriend.”

• Just after 7:20 p.m. on Dec. 18, a caller in the 800 block of South Market Boulevard reported he thinks someone “stole his identity and are messing with his computer.” About 30 minutes later, another caller asked officers to remove the initial caller from the area, advising “he is really f—ing high on drugs.”

• Just after 6:50 a.m. on Dec. 19, a caller in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue reported “his friend’s little homie (got) in his face while he was outside the mission yesterday and nobody did anything about it.” An officer determined no crime had occurred.

• At approximately 12:10 a.m. on Dec. 20, a customer at a business in the 900 block of U.S. Highway 12 in Napavine requested police aid and advised “he was poisoned by LSD and so was his dog.” The subject reportedly “insisted on speaking to a deputy and would not let (a Chehalis Police officer) take him to the hospital.”

 

Disorderly conduct

• A man with an open container of alcohol was reportedly “completely incoherent” outside a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 4:50 p.m. on Dec. 18. The business asked officers to move him along. Officers requested medical aid for the man.

• A homeless man was reportedly trying to start a fire behind a business in the 100 block of Northwest State Avenue at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 19.

 

Theft

• “Some candy and eyelashes” were reported stolen from a business in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 7:15 p.m. on Dec. 18.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 2000 block of Jackson Highway just before 12:40 p.m. on Dec. 19 is under investigation.

• Gift cards were reported stolen from a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 3:05 p.m. on Dec. 19.

• A second-degree theft reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 3:50 p.m. on Dec. 19 is under investigation.

• A woman was arrested in the 500 block of South Market Boulevard just before 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 19 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail after staff at a business reported a possible theft and asked that she be trespassed from the property.

• A possible attempted vehicle prowl was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 5 a.m. on Dec. 20.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of South Market Boulevard and Southwest First Street just after 4:20 p.m. on Dec. 19.

• A non-injury vehicle collision reported in the 1900 block of South Market Boulevard just before 3:25 a.m. on Dec. 20 is under investigation.

 

Dispute

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 200 block of Southwest Second Street just before 5:45 p.m. on Dec. 19.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 151 inmates, including 138 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 116 were reported male and 22 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.
